Are You at Risk for Having an Enlarging Prostate?
As man’s chance of developing an enlarging prostate only increases with age. This is because, as a man ages, the prostate goes through several different growth stages. Prostate size naturally increases during puberty and during a man’s early to mid 20’s. However, during a man’s 50’s, a new growth phase commonly begins. It is this last growth phase that usually causes problems.
Prostate Problems Are Very Common
Once men reach their 50’s, at least half will have an enlarging prostate. In addition, at least 80% of all men will have an enlarging prostate by the time they reach their 80’s. This problem is considered to be so common due to the cause of an enlarging prostate. As we age, levels of hormones including DHT, estrogen, and testosterone will naturally change. These changes influence many functions of the body including prostate growth.
